Lucy Spraggan is a British singer and songwriter who first became known after appearing on The X Factor UK in 2012. Her audition with the original song “Last Night” was one of the most memorable of the season. The performance quickly went viral online and helped her stand out from other contestants who sang cover songs.

Last Night: Before The X Factor

Before The X Factor, Spraggan was already writing her own music. She self-released her first album Top Room at the Zoo in 2011. Her style mixed acoustic pop, folk, and storytelling lyrics, which later became her trademark.

In 2012, as you know, she auditioned for The X Factor UK and impressed the judges with her originality. Spraggan became a fan favorite and went viral, but left the competition early due to personal reasons. Even though she did not finish the show, the exposure gave her career a strong push.

Following The X Factor, she signed with Columbia Records and released her first major-label album Join the Club in 2013. Later, she continued her career more independently. Over the years she has released several albums, including We Are (2015), Today Was a Good Day (2019), and Choices (2021).

In 2023, Spraggan published her memoir Process, which reflects on her life before and after the show. She continues to perform, record music, and maintain a loyal fanbase. Today she is recognized more as a singer-songwriter in her own right than simply as a former reality TV contestant.
